Finance 101 for Non Profit Board Members
Being on a board doesn’t mean you need to be an accountant, but it does mean you need to understand what the numbers are telling you.
Join us for a practical workshop designed for local community groups and hosted by Georgie McLean from ICL Chartered Accountants and Carole Gillions from huddl and Alexandra Community House.
In this session, we'll cover:
- How to read and interpret key financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets and cash flow summaries.
- What are your responsibilities as a committee or board member when it comes to the finances, and what good oversight looks like.
- What are some questions board members should be asking management teams or the treasurer.
This workshop is for non-profit board and committee members who want to feel more confident asking the right questions so they can contribute to financial discussions at the board table and fulfil their financial governance responsibilities. Ideal for new board members, volunteer-led organisations, or anyone wanting a refresher on the financial side of governance.
