Also, Board Pro have a Strategic Priorities Template that is free to download that helps simplify your planning process with a easy to use template that you can view here.
Setting SMART goals (goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Bound) helps move from talk into action and provides some clarity around what you are looking to achieve. Community Governance Aotearoa have a Smart Goals Template you can use here
A good strategic plan shouldn't be long and complicated. It should clearly set out:
- Your purpose and priorities
- What success looks like
- The key goals you want to achieve
- Who is responsible and by when
Keep your strategy practical, realistic and review it regularly to ensure it stays useful and not something that just sits in a folder.
Community Governance Aotearoa also have some tips on how to run a successful strategy session that you can view here.
